All you need to know in the lead up to Collingwood and GWS on Sunday afternoon (26 June) at the MCG, including news updates, past history plus when and how to watch on Kayo.
There is one man dominating AFL headlines this week, and after a training no show on Monday, all eyes will be on whether Collingwood can put controversy to one side and defeat GWS on Sunday 26 June.
Watch live here on Kayo and catch up on all the news in the lead-up.
Magpies v Giants preview
Star midfielder Jordan De Goey missed training on Monday after returning from Bali with headlines swirling from the fallout of his overseas party antics, which has drawn widespread criticism, particularly regarding his respect for women. He has been granted personal leave and will miss Sunday’s match.
More Collingwood players have now found themselves in the spotlight engaging in a Tik Tok trend which again brings into question players’ attitudes towards women, namely Jake Ginnivan and Isaac Quaynor.
Trey Ruscoe, Caleb Poulter, Aiden Begg and Isaac Chugg have all been included.
It is unwanted attention for any club before any game and, in this case for Collingwood, comes at the most inopportune time with the Magpies seeking their fifth straight win. They meet a GWS Giants’ side that lost their coach a month ago, but have been highly competitive since, winning two of their past four, and testing the Western Bulldogs in the highest scoring match of the season where both sides exceeded 100 points.
Toby Greene kicked a career-best seven goals but it wasn’t enough. Former captain Phil Davis made seven changes with Tim Taranto, Daniel Lloyd and mid-season draft pick Wayne Derkson – an athletic key forward – among the ins.
