The St Kilda Football Club will play the second annual Spud’s Game against Essendon this Friday 17 June raising funds and awareness for lifesaving mental health programs. Here’s how to watch the match on Kayo and catch up on all the news in the lead-up.

Saints v Bombers preview

The Saints have the prime-time Friday night stage for a very special match in memory of club great Danny ‘Spud’ Frawley promoting the importance of mental health.

This is the second year of the Spud’s Game and St Kilda are partnering with men’s health charity Movember to advance the cause. Essendon will join St Kilda as their opponents for the occasion.

Frawley passed away in September 2019.

Wife Anita and daughters Chelsea, Danielle and Keeley Frawley are ambassadors for the match joined by Saints legend Nathan Burke, champion Tiger Matthew Richardson – coached by Danny at Richmond – history-making athlete Nova Peris, Western Bulldogs’ premiership hero Tom Boyd and current St Kilda players Max King and Olivia Vesely in that capacity.

It will be Essendon’s second consecutive Friday night match. Darcy Parish has been ruled out after being subbed out of the eventual loss to Carlton last week with a corked calf. Mid-season draftee Massimo D’Ambrosio will debut.

St Kilda’s star midfielder Jack Steele is still two weeks away from returning to the field.
