Wet weather warning for sold-out Adelaide Crows v Collingwood clash at Adelaide Oval

The weather forecast is looking like the only thing that can dampen a rampaging Crows juggernaut, with a less than favourable forecast for tomorrow’s clash with the Pies.

Thousands of footy fans face a soaking at Saturday night’s highly anticipated sold-out Adelaide Oval clash between the Crows and Collingwood.

Rain is forecast to hit during the game, with the forecast for Adelaide on Saturday a maximum of 14C and a high chance of showers in the late afternoon and evening.

Daniel Sherwin-Simpson from the Bureau of Meteorology said the game would likely be a “wet and windy one” but nowhere near as bad as last month’s Showdown.

“The next time we’re expecting a band of showers to move through is Saturday night so that will cover the time of the footy match between the Adelaide Crows and Collingwood,” the meteorologist said.

“Probably expecting those showers to become more likely the later we get into the evening, so it could possibly be dry for the start of the game.

“If (showers) don’t develop during the footy, it will come through either an hour or two after the game.”

The wet weather will continue on Sunday, when a top of 15C is tipped in the city, with a Code Blue Teir 2 response called across the state for rough sleepers this weekend.

The activation, which is in place from 5pm Friday until 11am Saturday, has been called across metropolitan Adelaide, Fleurieu Peninsula, Kangaroo Island, Murraylands, Upper South East, and Yorke Peninsula.

It also applies to the Lower South East, and Mount Lofty Ranges which will continue in Tier 2 Code Blue until 11am Monday.

Another Code Blue response will also commence from 5pm Saturday until 11am Monday in the Clare Valley and Riverland.

Temperatures will warm next week with partly cloudy conditions on Monday and Tuesday with highs of 15C and 16C forecast respectively.

Wednesday will be mostly sunny with Adelaide reaching 19C, before we shoot for a top of 20C on Thursday.

“In the Adelaide area, its going to be fairly mild for Monday and Tuesday,” Mr Sherwin-Simpson said.

“But Wednesday and Thursday will see more spring-like conditions with 19 and 20 on the forecast.”

He also said that some parts of the state might see a “little bit of frost” early next week.

“It’s going to be fairly isolated. Monday we’ll probably see it in the Mid North, Flinders and Central pastorals.

“Then Tuesday and Wednesday could see a bit of patchy frost in the east, but nothing too severe.”
