Former Carlton favourites Jack Silvagni and Tom De Koning turned up to the club’s John Nicholls Medal on Sunday night.
Despite both leaving the Blues to join St Kilda, the pair were warmly greeted by the crowd on the last of the best and fairest awards nights at Crown.
Wantaway forward Charlie Curnow was also there, all smiles with his fiancé Tiana Simic.
Midfielder George Hewett said of Curnow: “Of course we want to keep him, we all love him.”
Among the first to arrive were young twins Ben and Lucas Camporeale with their partners, and it was Ben’s partner Isla Slattery who stunned in a striking black gown.
Rachel Williams, wife of Zach Williams, wore an adorable baby blue Effie Kats frock with gloves, styled by Kiana Stanley.
Hewett proposed only two weeks ago to partner Alice Summers, who looked beautiful in sheer white.
She said he popped the question when they were playing Monopoly with their five year-old son Henry.
“It was a Wednesday evening and we’d taught Henry the rules so it was a long running game and we were just having a happy evening at home and in the middle of the game he snuck off and was down on one knee behind me,” she said. Also in attendance was Olympic swimming great Leisel Jones, the Blues’ no. 1 ticket holder.
Hawks glamour couple steal the spotlight
Hawthorn’s glamour girls sizzled in rich red as the team gathered for the Peter Crimmins Medal on Saturday night at Crown.
Livewire forward Jack Ginnivan didn’t attend the Brownlow with his partner Lily Mitchell but the couple stole the spotlight at the best and fairest.
Blake Hardwick’s partner Steph Tonkin was stunning in deep red, while Dylan Moore’s partner was also a standout and Josh Weddle’s blonde bombshell wore maroon.
Nadia Barrass, wife of defender Tom; Anthea Breust, wife of retired Luke Breust and Jarman Impey’s partner Annabelle opted for classic black.
Grace Ireland, partner of Conor Nash, bucked the one colour trend and went for a pink pastel and floral mini dress.
Connor Macdonald’s partner Summer Trim looked elegant, styled by Kiana Stanley.
Casey Battle, wife of defender Josh Battle, was radiant in yellow.
Jack Gunston and model Dani Shreeve in chocolate brown, were also among the best dressed.
The couple will holiday in Japan before Gunston heads to the US on a training camp with 10 teammates.
Annalise Dalins’ surprise appearance after emergency surgery
There was a welcome recovery and a sweet tribute to home at Collingwood’s Copeland Trophy on Friday night at Crown.
Josh Daicos stepped out with fiancee Annalise Dalins who recovered from appendicitis despite ruling herself out on Wednesday morning.
Still a little fragile the model said didn’t want to miss the night along side all the partners and friends.
She looked stunning in black with a slick back hairdo, while Arlette Amor, partner of Nick Daicos, was also beautiful in black.
Three baby bumps were on show: Aisha Jade McKinnon, partner of Jordan De Goey; Tayla Brown, partner of Tom Mitchell and Alicia Sidebottom, wife of veteran Steele Sidebottom.
Big man Mason Cox gave a nod to his Texas home town by wearing a cowboy hat and a polo tie.
“It’s a little bit of home,” the out of contract Cox said.
“I’ll be heading back to the US on the 13th after Brodie Grundy’s wedding.”
Fan favourite Bobby Hill was also in attendance while Brian Taylor hosted the Copeland Trophy, alongside Sarah Jones, for the 25th time.
Captain Darcy Moore said the preliminary final loss to Brisbane still “sits in your guts for sure” but the club was determined to improve.
Holmes says ‘no malice’ behind costume
Geelong star Max Holmes has spoken out on his Mad Monday antics, saying “there was no malice” in dressing up as journalist Caroline Wilson.
“I text her telling her I was going as her. Yeah she was fine with it,” Holmes said at the Geelong Carji Greeves Medal at Crown.
“There was no malice involved and I didn’t anticipate the transphobic comments and the outrage it caused. It was nothing like that. I’d been as a journalist two years in a row the last couple of years. So it had nothing to do with that.”
Holmes was embroiled in controversy after a later deleted social media post by teammate Bailey Smith saying Caro had never looked so good.
“He made a spur of the moment post,” Holmes said.
“There was no malice to anything.”
The club has since released a statement apologising for several controversial choices, and saying it would ditch future Mad Monday costume situations.
Holmes said the players were still hurting after the grand final loss but were proud of their season.
Smith didn’t pose on the media wall but spent time with fans wanting pictures as he made a beeline for inside the Palladium.
Star forward Jeremy Cameron had his arm in a sling after breaking it during the grand final and undergoing surgery.
“He’s just frustrated,” wife Indiana said.
“The silver lining is at least it wasn’t a leg, he can get around.”
Mitch and Demi Duncan made their final appearance with a move to Perth on cards after Mitch landed a coaching job with the Eagles.
“I think 2012 was my first one of the Best and Fairests,” Demi said.
“Mitch goes over in November and I’ll go in January.”
Dons step out for B&F
Essendon’s players and partners turned on the glamour at the Crichton Medal, which was held at Centrepiece on Thursday night.
Bont’s wedding the talk of Dogs’ B&F
The Western Bulldogs team stepped out in style for the Charles Sutton Medal with love on their minds.
Many players are heading to the US for the upcoming wedding of captain Marcus Bontempelli and his partner Neila Brenning.
“She’s having a Las Vegas bachelorette party and there’s about 10 of us from Australia and 30 in total,” said Logan Johannisen, wife of defender Jason.
“It’s going to be really fun, we can’t wait.”
Also getting married are Rory Lobb and Lexi Mary this Saturday, ruckman Tim English and netballer Rudi Ellis in a few months, midfielder Ed Richards and partner Elle Neofytou and Bailey Dale and partner Erin Meade.
Lobb and Mary will have an intimate wedding with 25 guests before a bigger celebration in November in the Maldives where they got engaged.
Tom Liberatore was accompanied by his club great dad Tony, his mum Maria, and fiance Maddy Krueger, who he will wed next year.
Colour was the big winner on the night but Bridie Coulston, in black, didn’t go unnoticed on the arm of new partner, midfielder Caleb Poulter.
MAFS star turns heads at Tigers’ B&F
Married At First Sight’s Jamie Marinos made her footy WAG debut at Richmond’s Jack Dyer Medal on Tuesday night at Crown.
Marinos stepped out on the arm of delisted Tiger Mate Colina but didn’t confirm if they were an item.
“I could definitely do it,” she said of being a WAG.
“At this moment I couldn’t tell you though.”
Marinos, a Carlton supporter, wore a revealing white dress.
Also stunning in white was Tash Hoole, partner of midfielder Tim Taranto, who said the couple will fly out to Europe on Thursday.
Defender Nick Vlastuin wore a broad smile with glowing pregnant partner Georgia Kelly.
“We think it could be a boy going by what people have told us,” Vlastuin said, before Kelly added that she feels very large.
Captain Toby Nankervis arrived solo with his wife Hayley due very soon with their first child.
Defender Noah Balta was with his fiance Jana Colina, the cousin of Mate Colina.
Speedster Maurice Rioli Jr and his partner Courtney Lee are this week celebrating their second anniversary.
Tayla Broad, wife of defender Nathan Broad, was a standout in sheer black, as was model Brooke Bailey, partner of veteran Dion Prestia, in rich red.
Pregnancy news and wedding updates at Saints’ B&F
St Kilda star Jack Macrae and wife Lou stole the show at St Kilda’s Best and Fairest with their baby news.
Lou is due with the couple’s first child in March.
Also sharing some happy news at the Trevor Barker Award on Monday night at Crown were captain Jack Steele and defender Callum Wilkie who are in wedding planning mode.
Steele and partner Jaz Buckley will wed in December in Mt Eliza and honeymoon near Newcastle.
Jaz will stun in a gown by Maison Oui who made her gorgeous pink Brownlow dress.
Wilkie is marrying Izzy Lokan in Adelaide later next year.
Year 12 student Maddie Antonis who wowed at the Brownlow Medal, stepped out in style again with partner Hugh Boxshall.
Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera was accompanied by his housemate Marcus Windhager who has also re-signed with the club.
“I love it here and the coaching staff, I’ve got a lot of best mates there and love the culture,” Windhager said.
“I lived with Nas this year … it was massive for the club to sign Nas and I’m proud of him.”
