Essendon is set to appoint West Coast football manager Craig Vozzo as the Bombers’ new chief executive.

The highly respected footy boss has won the race to lead the Bombers alongside new senior coach Brad Scott.

Essendon has conducted a thorough process after the embarrassing one-day stint of Andrew Thorburn.

A former lawyer, Vozzo has long been touted as a chief executive in the making after a successful stint in the west helping guide the Eagles to the 2018 premiership.

Essendon declined to confirm the appointment on Thursday afternoon.

More to come.
