Fixture release day is like Christmas for media teams at AFL clubs.

Well, at least the part where it gets really competitive during a game of backyard cricket.

The social media gurus have taken fixture releases to new heights in recent years, drawing on iconic games, movies and TV shows of the past to reveal who they’ll be playing the next year.

But this year, St Kilda was the winner thanks to simplicity.

All the Saints’ release needed was cult hero Fraser Gherig.
