Mason Cordwell produces touching post-match moment

Freddie Flintoff, eat your heart out. A young gun footballer from Tasmania may have taken over your title for the greatest act of sportsmanship seen in recent years. Watch the video.

Young gun's touching sportsmanship

A YOUNG football player from Huonville Lions has been winning a mountain of praise this week not only for his on field prowess but more importantly for his sportsmanship.

Lions junior player Mason Cordwell kicked the winning goal to get his Huonville Lions under-11 team home in a thriller against Glenorchy in their Southern Tasmania Junior Football League game at Brighton Oval last weekend.

Mason and his teammates celebrated the goal, which put them ahead with only seconds to play.

A short time later the final siren sounded, and as the Lions were celebrating the come-from-behind win, Mason noticed a Glenorchy player distraught at the loss, and went over to console his opponent.

It was a moving moment, and a shining example to players at all levels of every sport.

Congratulations to Mason, and thank you to Martin from Duff TV for capturing the magic moment and providing it for us to admire.
