They’re considered the best in the business, the GWS Giants social media team, so it’s no surprise the AFL’s new baby has come knocking.

Despite still being two years away from having a team in the AFL, the Tasmania Devils are poaching the Giants head of content Jacob Gaynor.

Gaynor and his band of highly skilled and funny producers have set a high bar for content in the AFL, poking fun at other teams, players and themselves.

Giants fans lap it up with the club’s Instagram account having 172,000 followers with 70,600 on X.

Given the creative freedom the Giants social media team have been given by the club’s hierarchy, there is sure to be a lot of jostling for the prized position.

Gaynor had previously worked at the AFL as a media coordinator and was the media manager at former NEAFL team the Canberra Demons.

He also hosts a podcast titled ‘In the Green Room’ with Giants superstar Tom Green.

The Devils are slowly appointing their off-field team under CEO Brendon Gale despite there still being some political issues in Tasmania over the stadium build which is crucial to its AFL licence.

Last month Michael Thorn was appointed the General Manager Infrastructure and Commercial Development. Former Collingwood recruiter Derek Hine was named head of recruiting in May with ex-Demon Todd Patterson appointed List Manager.
