Brisbane has pulled off a huge signing coup, inking Chicago native Javon Freeman-Liberty just weeks after a dominant NBA Summer League campaign with the Bulls.

The 25-year-old was a sought after commodity following a five-game Vegas stand where he poured in 21 points per game to go with 6 rebounds and 3.4 assists.

The Bullets won the race for the tough guard’s signature and will bring in an elite scoring talent who played 22 games with the Toronto Raptors in 2023-24 after winning an NBA contract on the back of a standout G League campaign where he averaged 18.2 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 2.6 assists.

The 193cm brawler is a two-way guard who hunts tough defensive jobs and will likely be among the NBL’s leading visitors to the charity stripe — he relishes contact and excels at finishing through it.

New Bullets coach Stu Lash now has a dynamic one-two import scoring back-court with Freeman-Liberty to join former NBL MVP and champion Jaylen Adams.

“To add a talent of Javon’s calibre to our roster, at this stage, is really exciting,” Lash said.

“He’s a hungry player who’s ready to take the next step in his development as a professional.

“His toughness, ferocity, and willingness to compete make him a natural fit for what we

value at the Brisbane Bullets.

“Javon will fit seamlessly into our playing group, and I have no doubt he’ll make an

immediate impact in the NBL.”

Freeman-Liberty led a Bulls squad heavy on NBL alumni, with championship Illawarra Hawks duo Lachlan Olbrich and Will Hickey suiting up alongside him.

The DePaul college standout lands in Brisbane excited to take on the NBL, a league he has come to know as “one of the toughest” in the world.

“I’m ready to bring my grit, energy, and all-out effort to the Bullets,” Liberty-Freeman said.

“I can’t wait to meet the fans, get on the court with my teammates, and chase something special this season.”

It’s been a banner couple of weeks for the rebuilding Bullets with Freeman-Liberty and Adams joined on the roster by rising Australian wing Alex Ducas, fresh off an NBA championship with Oklahoma City.
