Pat Cummins takes on new business venture as he sets himself up for life after cricket
Pat Cummins will take a new found interest into stadium digital screens and displays as he puts degree in Business Management to use and takes on new off-field opportunity.
Australian captain Pat Cummins is used to lighting up stadiums and scoreboard with his play, but in another major step towards life after cricket, he’ll be doing it off the field too.
Cummins has bought into SureVision Global Pty Ltd, a company that operates digital screens in shopping centres, airports, office buildings and schools.
However it’s their involvement in sport which provides the biggest link for Cummins.
SureVision works with sporting rights holders, stadiums and events installing LED advertising at matches, most notably via perimeter fencing. In some cases they market and sell the advertising you see light up around the ground on behalf of sports and stadiums.
“I am keen to learn more about elements of the business but I’m confident I can add quite a bit through my own sport connections and networks. Whether that be with sports themselves or with brands that want to be part of a sport,” Cummins told Code Sports.
SureVision supplies perimeter fencing for most Australian and New Zealand sporting codes including NRL, AFL, Netball, New Zealand Rugby and the recent FIFA Women’s Cup.
Naturally, given Cummins’ involvement, they are also a major player in cricket too; they work with Cricket Australia, Cricket NZ and the Womens and Mens World cups.
Cummins, who holds a degree in Business Management, has specific post-career goals in business. According to Sure Vision Global CEO Nick Ebbeck it’s not the typical athlete and brand marriage.
“This association is not a sports star whacking his name to a business for a few dollars or a small piece. This is a significant and considered investment made by Pat into a business that he has thoroughly researched.”
A management buy out of the company in January was the catalyst for Cummins’ involvement. SureVision management have been a regular fixture on the Australian cricket tour in recent years where connections with the captain have been made.

“Pat spent some time conducting an array of due diligence, particularly focused on the enterprise side of SureVision and, pleasingly, is dedicated to the continuation of the journey that management has started,” Ebbeck said.
Cummins’ investment will mean he will look at stadium boundaries in a new way.
“I’ll be taking more notice of what lights up around the ground, but rest assured I have no plans to get hit for more boundaries,” Cummins said.
