Big Bash rising star Joel Davies has been reported for allegedly simulating a sex act after a dismissal in a Sydney grade cricket match.
The Sydney Sixers all-rounder is facing action from Cricket NSW for the apparently vulgar send-off to a Sydney University batsman on Sunday while he was playing for Manly.
It’s not the first time Davies has been reported for giving a batsman a send-off and under the code of conduct he will now face the prospect of punishment.
There is displeasure around the game about the unsavoury wicket celebration and it was a topic of conversation around grade cricket after vision of it was captured on the Play Cricket website.
Manly players say Davies was actually imitating a celebration popularised by NBA star Joel Embiid.
Umpires did not immediately report Davies, but Cricket NSW has subsequently reported him after reviewing the incident following media inquiries.
