Ringwood 2023-24 Dowling Shield list breakdown

Ringwood’s Dowling Shield side has developed some future stars in years gone by and this season looks no different. Here’s what you need to know about every player in the 2023-24 squad.

The Ringwood District Cricket Association has had some junior success in recent years, and it’s starting to filter through to Russell Lucas Oval.

The Rams have an array of talented youngsters ready to take the next step into Premier Cricket.

Here is a breakdown of each and every Ram ahead of January’s Dowling Shield tournament.

ADEN BATES

A left-arm medium bowler that is also very handy with the bat. He plays his senior cricket at Bayswater in the Subbies competition and has played a lot of good rep cricket out in the RDCA.

CAMDYN JONES

Jones, one of a handful of Ringwood bottom-age players, is a crafty bowling all-rounder. He played some Craig Shield as a bottom-age player last year as well as some rep cricket for the RDCA.

CHARLIE MOORE

A wicketkeeper bat that has played some strong rep cricket in recent years. He bats at the top of the order and can offer a little bit with the ball if he doesn't take the gloves.

DARCY NOONAN

A quick bowler with a really easy-on-the-eye action. He can contribute with the bat if needed lower down the order.

EZRA HORNEMAN

The word out of Ringwood is ‘upside’ for Horneman. He’s a promising left-arm quick that is still a bit raw but has enormous potential.

JACK CHILDS

Childs is an all-rounder that bowls leggies. The Rams are likely to play two spinners and Childs is right in the mix to be one of them. He holds the record as the youngest First XI premiership player at Kilsyth Cricket Club.

JACKSON EDWARDS

Edwards is already playing in the Ringwood Fourth XI, played some Craig Shield last year and was a key player in the RDCA side that went close to winning the title a number of years ago. He opens the bat, wicket keeps and should be right in the mix for Vic under 17s next year.

LACHLAN MADIGAN

A tall quick that gets them through at a good pace while generating sharp bounce.

LUKE IVANOVIC

A really promising left-hand bat. He played for the Outer East Eagles last year.

MASON O’NEILL

A wicketkeeper bat that comes from the Yarra Valley. He is a bit of a bolter by not having played a stack of pathway cricket but is starting to develop quickly.

RYAN DOHERTY

Doherty has unfortunately gone down with stress fractures in his back and will not play in the tournament. Ringwood is yet to replace him.

SAAD MALIK

Malik came from New Zealand late last year and went down to Ringwood when it was short in the Fourth XI. The Rams immediately put him into their academy and are excited to see what he can do in the Dowling Shield side. He’s a leg-spinning all-rounder.

TAJ JOHNSTONE

The last of the bottom-agers, Johnston bowls and bats right as a talented all-rounder. He brings great energy to the Rams.
