Aussie-born midfielder Nectar Triantis has stunned Major League soccer, channelling David Beckham and scoring from his own half for his new club Minnesota United.
A-League graduate Nectar Triantis has gone viral after scoring from his own half for Major League Soccer club Minnesota United.
Triantis, who played for Central Coast Mariners 25 times before earning a move to Premier League club Sunderland, scored in the 92nd minute to put his side 3-0 ahead against San Diego.
The Sydney-born midfielder/defender only joined Minnesota in recent weeks, completing a move worth more than $4m AUD, and was making his debut for his new club.
He had previously scored three goals in his professional career which all came for Scottish club Hibernian.
The 22-year-old played 10 times for Australia’s under-20 side and four times for the under-23 team but has recently requested to change his national allegiance to Greece.
