Hollywood legend Bill Murray’s wayward drive hits fans & dog before bouncing back in play at Dunhill Links golf

Hollywood legend Bill Murray has a long history on the golf course and his most recent stroke of luck was straight out of Caddyshack as he took the idea of a lucky bounce to the extreme.

Hollywood star Bill Murray stunned spectators at the Dunhill Links Championship after a wayward drive struck fans, hit a DOG and somehow bounced back into play. The Ghostbusters legend, 75, was teeing off when his ball sliced badly to the right and looked destined to go out of bounds.

But in a bizarre twist, the rogue shot ricocheted off a fence, clattered past shocked spectators — and appeared to glance off a dog — before rebounding back onto the fairway.

Gasps were heard from the crowd as the ball came to rest in a playable position, despite travelling well beyond the white boundary stakes.

Murray, ever the showman, raised his arms in mock triumph as fans erupted into laughter.

Social media exploded with reactions to the surreal moment.

One fan joked: “Only Bill Murray could slice a ball into a dog and still get a lucky bounce.”

Another posted: “Rather be lucky than good! Bill’s the man!.”

A third added: “He’s not good as the rest of us but he’s a bit funny.”

There were no reports of injuries, and both the dog and fans involved appeared unharmed — though a little startled.

Murray has been a crowd favourite at the Alfred Dunhill Links for years, known as much for his comic antics as his golf game.

The Caddyshack star often draws big galleries, and has made a name for himself by chatting with fans, pulling faces and even dancing mid-round.

This incident only adds to his long list of on-course escapades and had golf fans comparing it to his famously chaotic characters on screen.

One fan summed it up best: “That was straight out of a movie.

“If it had been anyone else, it was out of bounds. But Bill? He gets a bounce off a dog and it’s back in play. Iconic.”
