BEST BET
AMLETO (Race 3 No.5): He’s simply ready to win after two excellent efforts back from a long spell. No reason he can’t break through at The Valley.
NEXT BEST
A DIVA (Race 1 No.5): Developing mare that was far too good for easier opposition at Sale. She’ll have no problem stepping back up to city racing.
APULIA (Race 6 No.2): The smart galloper resumed with a narrow second in this race last year and has trialled impressively leading up to this year’s contest.
VALUE BET
SMOKIN’ ROMANS (Race 7 No.3): Smokin’ Romans led and fought on well in the Herbert Power Stakes but the weight scale is much more in his favour in the Moonee Valley Gold Cup.
LAY OF THE DAY
RAIKOKE (Race 6 No.4): Not overly well in at the weights in this race and his run at Sandown was only fair for a race like Friday’s assignment.
THE JOCKEY
Five rides should get Ethan Brown a winner or two at The Valley on Friday night. A DIVA (Race 1 No.5 – $4.80), AMLETO (Race 3 No.5 – $2.90), GIN A TONIC (Race 5 No.2 – $6.50), ANOTHER PROPHET (Race 6 No.3 – $4.80), POST IMPRESSIONIST (Race 7 No.8 – $5.50).
