South Australian trainer Cody Reardon eyes first Moonee Valley runner with Morphettville winner Grinzinger Prince
Young trainer Cody Reardon is set to have his first runner at The Valley on Cox Plate day after Grinzinger Prince’s explosive win at Morphettville.
Rising veteran Grinzinger Prince is on track to give young trainer Cody Reardon his first runner on Cox Plate day after a dominant win in a Benchmark 84 over 1050m at Morphettville on Saturday.
Ridden a cool race by Alana Livesey Grinzinger Prince ($15), after settling at the rear, stormed home to beat Winning Revolution and early leader Super Alana.

Victory saw the Reardon runner chalk up its first win since December 30, 2023 – the trainer’s birthday.
“This is such a big thrill for me and our small team,’’ Reardon said.
“I remember his last win well – it was on my birthday.
“All going well and if he pulls up OK we will head to the McEwen Stakes. It’s a Group 2 over 1000m (weight for age, October 25).
“I’ve never had a runner at Moonee Valley so I am really looking forward to that, in the Valley’s last day for a while.
“He’s been a good horse for us. We’re only a small stable. He’ll go the paddock for a week and then we’ll go from there.
“Full marks to Alana (Livesey). She is a very good rider, always wanting to improve and do her best. We only had the one runner for the day so it’s been a good result.’’

Trainer Mick Huxtable could have felt outnumbered in the opening race with fellow trainers Andrew Gluyas and Richard and Chantelle Jolly providing three and two horses respectively in a six-horse field.
But promising three-year-old Safe Bet ($5) flew the flag for Huxtable, holding off the chasing pack with Alysha Warren on board.
Hot Statement ($5.50) wasn’t fussed about returning for its first run in 42 weeks by proving too strong in a maiden over 1050m.
Ridden by Jake Toeroek the Richard and Chantelle-trained four year old settled well back in the field before taking the runs in the straight to win well at its third start.
Victorian debutant Presscode and Buckingham Placetook the minor money.
Hypernova ($3.90) is realising its potential, overcoming a tough run in the straight to charge over the top of the field in a Rating 62 over 1200m.
Ridden by Todd Pannell, the David Jolly/Justin Potter runner found clear air late to edge out Murph and Solar Blast.

The winner has chalked up two wins and two seconds from its past five runs.
Another Grinzinger horse, Grinzinger Halo, trained by Will Clarken and ridden by Ben Price, showed great heart to hold out Tower Of Tuscany to take out a Class 2 over 1600m.
The $7 victor overcame the widest draw (barrier 11) to record its second successive win.
Jason Holder made good use of a pick up ride to chalk up a double after Super Lad led all the way to take out a 1600m event.
The winner, trained by Chris Bieg, recorded its third win in a row to beat the well-supported Sachem and Alaigne.
Holder won earlier on Darknconfidential which sat off the lead to score over 1800m, the
$3.50 chance trained by Stuart Gower.
And just to show his outstanding talent Holder steered the improving Mt Niseko to victory
in the final race over 1050m, bringing up a treble and a double to Bieg.
Apprentice Jade Doyle, who was injured in a fall at Port Augusta in May this year and missed about four months of racing, scored an impressive win on board the Phillip Stokes-trained Global Turn in a 1200m Rating 62 race, accounting for Startide and stablemate Stolen
Kiss.
