Seven former winners are among 50 drivers battling for glory in the Bathurst 1000. Get the Idiot’s Guide breakdown of every driver on the grid, so you know what to expect this weekend.

The storylines to keep your eye on at the Bathurst 1000

Want to know who’s who in the zoo for this year’s Bathurst 1000? Code Sports’ experts have you covered with a team-by-team breakdown of the drivers lining up for this weekend’s Great Race at Mount Panorama.

TRIPLE EIGHT RACE ENGINEERING

Will Brown

The defending Supercars champion, pilot and part-time used car salesman will be hoping to climb a step or two higher than his third place last year – his best result at Mount Panorama.

Scott Pye

Teaming up with Brown as his co-driver for a second year, Pye has finished on the podium three times at Mount Panorama – but not yet on the top step.

Broc Feeney

The championship leader and Sprint Cup winner is aiming to bounce back from a nightmare race at The Bend 500 and go one better than his second-place at the mountain last year.

Jamie Whincup

The seven-time Supercars champion, four-time Bathurst 1000 winner and Triple Eight team boss teams up with his protégé for a fourth year and is chasing success at the mountain for the first time since 2012.

GROVE RACING

Matt Payne

Sitting second in the championship standings, the New Zealand star has put himself firmly in the title mix, but will first be aiming to hit back from his Bathurst result last year after suffering a DNF when he crashed out.

Garth Tander

A five-time Bathurst 1000 winner, Tander knows what it takes to get the job done at Mount Panorama. Teaming up with Payne as his co-driver for the second year. A promising start for the pair this endurance season after finishing third at The Bend 500.

Kai Allen

The highly-rated Supercars rookie makes his first start in the Bathurst 1000 as a driver in the main game after his DJR wildcard with Simona De Silvestro in 2023 and co-driving for Will Davison last year.

Dale Wood

The veteran co-driver has plenty of experience at Mount Panorama and will be a great foil for young gun Allen. Finished ninth last year alongside Richie Stanaway at Grove.

TICKFORD RACING

Cam Waters

The Ford star and whiskey brand owner is more than ready to shed his bridesmaid tag at Mount Panorama after finishing on the podium three times, including runner-up twice. Will no doubt have a celebratory scotch on hand if he can reach the top step.

Mark Winterbottom

The Bathurst 1000 winner returns to the team where he made his name in Supercars as a co-driver after retiring from full-time racing at the end of last year. Made a strong start to his partnership with Waters after finishing second at The Bend.

Thomas Randle

Armed with a new co-driver for this year’s campaign, Randle is still aiming to crack into the top five at Mount Panorama with his best result coming in 2021 when he finished seventh.

James Moffat

Moffat has shuffled across to the co-drive with Randle at Tickford Racing after four years racing alongside Waters, who he claimed two podiums with.

WALKINSHAW ANDRETTI UNITED

Chaz Mostert

A two-time Bathurst 1000 winner, Mostert has finished on the podium four times at Mount Panorama and has also started on pole position twice. Remains a fan favourite in the sport and would be a popular winner if he could add a third win to his name.

Fabian Coulthard

A co-driver at WAU for the past three years, Coulthard has reunited this season with Mostert, who he finished second with at the mountain in 2022.

Ryan Wood

A New Zealand young gun who won his first race in Supercars earlier this year in Perth. Will be racing in just his second Bathurst 1000 after finishing 15th last year.

Jayden Ojeda

A talented GT driver who has made the move to Walkinshaw Andretti United after impressing as a co-driver for Erebus last year. He’s already a Bathurst winner, claiming two Bathurst 6 Hour crowns in a BMW in 2023 and 2024

DICK JOHNSON RACING

Brodie Kostecki

Kostecki will be aiming for a second straight Bathurst 1000 win with his new team DJR after his victory with Erebus Motorsport last year. His campaign got off to a great start with a win in The Bend 500 last month.

Todd Hazelwood

Followed his former housemate Kostecki over to DJR to team up with him again for a second year. Supported DJR as a kid, so would relish a Bathurst win with the team.

Will Davison

Will be racing his fifth Bathurst 1000 for DJR looking to add a third Peter Brock Trophy to his collection. The car the team will be driving was recently in the National Motor Racing Museum before being brought back to Queensland in a late move to race this weekend.

Tony D’Alberto

Will be a co-driver for the 10th time at DJR for the Bathurst 1000. Is chasing a first win at Mount Panorama after finishing on the podium twice during his career.

TEAM 18

David Reynolds

The 2017 Bathurst 1000 champion will be looking to join a host of two-time Great Race champions. This week, he secured his future, staying on as a full-time driver with Team 18 for at least another year.

Lee Holdsworth

Returns to Team 18 for the first time since driving with the team full-time from 2016 to 2018. Is a Bathurst 1000 winner, claiming the Peter Brock Trophy with Chaz Mostert in 2021.

Anton De Pasquale

Will be looking for his second podium at the Bathurst 1000 and first for his new team, Team 18. This will be his third manufacturer he has driven for at the Great Race.

Harri Jones

A Porsche Carrera Cup gun who will make his Bathurst 1000 debut in Supercars. Jones has won the 2022 and 2024 Australian Porsche Carrera Cup title and is on track to make it a third this year in the series.

MATT STONE RACING

Nick Percat

Will be his last Bathurst 1000 as a main game driver after announcing his retirement this week. Is the only driver currently racing to win the Bathurst 1000 as a rookie.

Tim Slade

Makes the move to being a co-driver after retiring from full time Supercars racing last year. Still chasing a first podium at Bathurst after 16 attempts.

Cameron Hill

Will be his last Bathurst 1000 at Matt Stone Racing after making the move to Brad Jones Racing for 2026. Won his first Supercars race this year at the Australian Grand Prix.

Cameron McLeod

The grandson of 1987 Bathurst 1000 winner Peter McLeod. Will make his second appearance at the Bathurst 1000 this year.

BRAD JONES RACING

Andre Heimgartner

A talented Kiwi who is chasing some luck around the mountain. Has not finished in four out of his last six Bathurst 1000 races.

Declan Fraser

Will be hoping for a better weekend than last year after the house he was living in burned down at last year’s Bathurst 1000. Is racing in his 4th Bathurst 1000.

Bryce Fullwood

The only driver from the Northern Territory in the field. He is driving for his future at the Bathurst 1000 with Bryce leaving Brad Jones Racing at the end of the year.

Brad Vaughan

Made his debut last year at the Bathurst 1000, finishing 25th. Is one of a few drivers from South Australia and is also racing Super2 this weekend.

Macauley Jones

The son of former Supercar driver and team owner Brad Jones. Had his highest ever finish in a Supercars race earlier this year, finishing fifth in Tasmania.

Jordan Boys

Lives in the same city as where the team, Brad Jones Racing, is based. Is chasing his first top-ten finish at the Bathurst 1000.

Jaxon Evans

The New Zealander is not only a full-time Supercars driver but he’s one of the best GT racers in the country. Will be looking for his first top-15 finish at the Bathurst 1000 in his career.

Jack Smith

Returns to the Bathurst 1000 after retiring full-time in 2023. Jack is the son of SCT Group owner Peter Smith who owns the car.

EREBUS MOTORSPORT

Jack Le Brocq

Will be competing in his 11th Bathurst 1000 and third with Erebus. Le Brocq is a two-time winner in Supercars, last winning in 2023 at Darwin.

Jarrod Hughes

Will make his debut at the Bathurst 1000 and has been competing in Super 2 this year. Hughes could win a national title this year with the 20-year-old leading the TA2 Series.

Cooper Murray

Competed last year with Craig Lowndes in the Triple 888 wildcard and is now a main game driver for Erebus. Murray will be running the same livery which won last year’s Bathurst 1000.

Jobe Stewart

Made his Supercars debut at The Bend in the last round and impressed when put up against main game drivers. Is one of two drivers from Mount Gambier and is making his Bathurst 1000 debut.

PREMIAIR RACING

Richie Stanaway

The former Bathurst 1000 winner is the only driver in the field to compete in the GP2 series, which is now F2. Stanaway has also competed in the FIA World Endurance Championship.

Nash Morris

The son of former Bathurst 1000 winner Paul Morris. Nash is currently second in the Super 2 series and is a former champion in Super 3 in 2021.

James Golding

Will be his final Bathurst 1000 for PremiAir Racing after signing with Blanchard Racing for next year. Will be looking to go out on a high after finishing 6th, his highest ever spot, last year.

David Russell

One of few drivers who will double-duty this weekend. Russell will compete in the Carrera Cup and the Bathurst 1000. Has been on the podium in two of the past three years.

BLANCHARD RACING TEAM

Aaron Cameron

Got his chance as a full-time driver this year, replacing Aaron Love in the early part of the season. Cameron has parked his daytime job as concreter, for now, to pursue his Supercars career.

Zak Best

Will celebrate his 24th birthday on the day before this year’s Bathurst 1000. Best is competing in his 4th Great Race and finished sixth in his last appearance.

James Courtney

Ends his full-time career in Supercars this year and will be looking to go out on a high with his first ever Bathurst 1000 win. Is a real estate agent on the Gold Coast when he isn’t driving with Blanchard Racing.

Jack Perkins

The son of six-time Bathurst 1000 winner and Formula One driver Larry Perkins. Jack is competing in his 20th Bathurst 1000 and earlier this year competed in the NASCAR Xfinity series in two races for Joe Gibbs Racing.

TRIPLE EIGHT WILDCARD

Craig Lowndes

An all-time great of the sport who is chasing his eighth Bathurst 1000 win. This will be his last race for Triple 888 racing, ending a 20 year association with the team, as he prepares to move to Team 18 next year as a wildcard driver.

Zach Bates

The son of rally and Supercars driver Rick Bates. Bates will make his debut at the Bathurst 1000 after winning the Super 2 title last year with Walkinshaw Andretti United.

MATT STONE RACING WILDCARD

Cameron Crick

Finished inside the top-10 on his debut at the Bathurst 1000 last year and is the main driver in the Matt Stone Racing wildcard this year. His father, Rodney Crick, is a six-time national truck champion.

Aaron Seton

The son of two-time Supercars champion Glenn Seton. Will make his second appearance at the Bathurst 1000 after making his debut in 2022 with Matt Stone Racing.

TICKFORD WILDCARD

Lochie Dalton

Will make his debut in the Bathurst 1000 and is currently third in the Super 2 series. Has been racing wildcards in Supercars for the past two seasons.

Rylan Gray

The current Super 2 leader who is also making his debut at the Bathurst 1000. His father is former racer Jeremy Gray and he will be the youngest driver on the grid this year.
