Aussie NFL star Cameron Johnston signs with Super Bowl favourites the Buffalo Bills
Fresh from Jordan Mailata’s Super Bowl win with the Philadelphia Eagles, there’s a new Aussie in the mix to lift the Lombardi Trophy this season after a $13.6m break.
Australian punter Cameron Johnston has landed a dream role on an NFL powerhouse – just a fortnight after being axed from his $13.6m contract.
Johnston – a nine-year NFL veteran – had plied his trade with the Philadelphia Eagles and Houston Texans before inking a three-year, $13.6m deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
But that stint turned into a nightmare when the Victorian suffered a season-ending knee injury in his Steelers debut – before being cut last month after losing the starting punting job to Corliss Waitman.
But things have worked out well for the 33-year-old, who on Wednesday signed on to play for Super Bowls favourites the Buffalo Bills.
The Bills snapped Johnston up after making a change at the punting position, waiving Brad Robbins.

Robbins had a tough night as the Bills pulled off a week one comeback win over the Baltimore Ravens, and an immediate switch has been made.
