Tully Tigers have staved off a late fightback from Ivanhoes to secure a nail-biting 30-28 victory at Smithfield on Sunday.
The Tigers took an early lead before the Knights struck back, but their early ascendancy was enough to come away with the win.
The victory sees them climb all the way into the top five, one premiership point ahead of Mareeba and on terms with Kangaroos.
Suburbs back in winners circle
Southern Suburbs finally arrested their three-game skid with a convincing 50-14 win over Innisfail.
Ricco Falaniko was the star of the show with a hat trick out on the wing, with Suburbs ensuring they remain firmly inside the top three with an important win.
Brothers roll on
Cairns Brothers are looking as fearsome as ever after a strong 54-24 victory over Mossman-Port Douglas Sharks at their new-look home field at Stan Williams Park.
With four rounds remaining, they now sit four points clear on top of the table with a huge point differential, and look extremely likely to secure a first round bye.
Yarrabah’s finals push continues
Yarrabah’s late finals push has continued with a solid 38-24 victory over Edmonton in round 14 of the FNQ Rugby League A-grade competition.
After registering just one win from their first eight matches of the season, the Seahawks have now won three of their last four - plus a draw against Ivanhoes - to climb well and truly into finals contention.
A double to winger Edgar Henriksen was the individual highlight of the day.
The Seahawks now sit just two points outside the top five, albeit their poor point differential could prove costly to their finals hopes.
Roos secure major boilover against top two opponent
Kangaroos secured a major victory in their own finals hunt with a 36-24 win over Atherton at Vico Oval on Saturday.

After conceding the opening three tries of the game inside a six-minute burst, and trailing 18-0, the Roos responded with three quick tries of their own to trail 18-14 at the half.
Two tries to winger Ryan Madua early in the second half were crucial to give his side the momentum, as the Roos ultimately slammed home four second half tries to one.
