Bridget Hunt says husband Ben is destined to win 2025 NRL grand final

Ben Hunt’s wife Bridget is a mix of nerves and excitement ahead of today’s NRL grand final. But there’s one thing she won’t have a bar of.

Broncos WAG Bridget Hunt says hubby Ben is “desperate to win” Sunday’s NRL decider as the ultimate redemption for his disastrous last grand final appearance for Brisbane a decade ago.

Mrs Hunt and their sons Bowie, 6, and Brady, 8, are getting set to jet to Sydney on a special charter flight to watch their warhorse husband and father hopefully help steer the Broncos to their first premiership in 19 years.

Hunt and his team-mates travelled to Sydney on Wednesday, leaving his skin dietician/nutritionist wife and sons at home on the Gold Coast in a jangle of nerves and excitement.

“It’s so exciting but nerve-wracking at the same time,” Mrs Hunt said.

“This (the grand final) is what we moved back (to Queensland from Sydney) for. I just feel like it’s meant to be. This is just supposed to be the story, you know.”

The story will become a fairytale if Hunt, who rejoined Brisbane from St George this season, can guide the Broncos to grand final glory.

It was a nightmare the last time around, against North Queensland in 2015, when Hunt infamously dropped the kick-off during golden point to hand the Cowboys field position and Johnathan Thurston the winning field goal.

Mrs Hunt bristled at suggestions her husband had a point to prove.

“Do you not think he’s proved himself enough in the last, you know 350 games, or playing 20 Origins or playing for Australia? Like, none of that really counts to anybody, for some reason,” she said.

“He’s a born competitor, and it’s meant to be, I think, this year. He is so composed. I think he’s really confident. He’s desperate to win.”

Mrs Hunt said Hunt’s family were driving down from his hometown Rockhampton and flying to Sydney from the Gold Coast “because it’s so expensive to fly from Rocky”.

She and their sons will board a Broncos charter to Sydney on Sunday morning.

“Obviously, Storm’s such an incredible side but, geez, so are the (Broncos) boys,” Mrs Hunt said.

“Look where they are - they haven’t got there because of luck. They are all so individually incredible and talented. They’ve got such a good group. It’ll certainly be an exciting and close game, but I think we’re just going to come home with the win.”
