Snoop Dogg wows fans with free concert at St Kilda’s The Espy
Snoop Dogg has performed for the first time since touching down in Australia, sharing a communal joint and giving a shout-out to the “beautiful ladies of Australia” during a free concert at Melbourne’s most iconic music pub.
Snoop Dogg performed for the first time since touching down in Melbourne this week, causing chaos at The Espy in St Kilda with a free gig late on Thursday night.
There were huge queues to get into the venue — some there from 6am – with lucky partygoers and VIP guests treated to a 1 hour show which started at 11.53pm.
“Anybody came to have a good time tonight?” he said.
“Well let me hear you say ‘well yeah’. Say f--k yeah. Say hell mother f--kin’ yeah.”
The US rapper, who is headlining the AFL Grand Final on Saturday, had earlier in the day spoken to media about his fondness for footy and the warm welcome he received from fans.
The Espy performance as DJ Snoopadelic included some of his hits, Drop It Like It’s Hot and Gin and Juice, as well as his California Gurls hit with Katy Perry and Puff Daddy’s I’ll Be Missing You.
He emerged puffing away on a huge joint which he maintained through the set. Towards the end he shared it with a member of the crowd.
Snoop, wearing a tracksuit and signature dark shades, also gave a shout-out to the ladies and Melbourne as he enthusiastically entertained with his laptop.
