Tasmanian David Noble is thriving after giving footy the boot and as CEO of one of the biggest teams in Supercars he is proud to have landed the biggest name in the game, reigning Bathurst champion Brodie Kostecki.

Noble was at Symmons Plains for round four of the Supercars championship at the weekend with his Shell V-Power Racing team _ aka Dick Johnson Racing _ with Kostecki in their ranks for the first time in Tassie.

It’s also a great feeling for Noble, former coach of AFL team North Melbourne, to be part of Australia’s biggest motor racing championship and one of the biggest sports in the country, in home territory.

“It’s great to be able to come back home with the championship,” Noble said.

“We landed in Hobart and I visited family there and we also went to Richmond.

“Then it was up to Campbell Town, where I used to have to go to in the freezing cold when I was training with the Teal Cup team [state under-17 football].

“Now we’re Launceston where we [North Hobart] started in the Statewide League playing North Launceston and South Launceston.

“It’s all got great memories for me.

“I’m very proud to come back home involved in a sport that is strongly followed here in the state.”

Life in Supercars has been “great”.

“I’ve loved it. Elite sport is all about winning and this sport is no different,” Noble said.

“We made a substantial change at the end of last year and turned over a third of our staff and we have been really pleased with the outcome so far.”

Kostecki has brought his own high standards and expectations to the team.

“We all spoke to him in the pre-signing phase with the different perspectives we wanted to present,” Noble said.

“We were lucky enough he saw some faith in what we were putting together he came onboard.

“We are very excited he is now part of our journey.”
