NBL expert Michael Randall names his Beat The Coach fantasy team for round 4

The advantage of a weekly fantasy format is the ability to start fresh each week. No more Bryce Cotton mistakes. See hoops expert Mick Randall’s starting six here.

Davis stars as Kings crush Breakers

With six teams on the double this week, there’s no shortage of talent to pack your NBL Beat the Coach team this week.

Adelaide, Cairns, Illawarra, Melbourne, New Zealand and Sydney all have the double chance this week.

So, as with last week, there’s a big Bryce decision to make.

Last week, I faded Cotton – and paid for it – but, this week, with the scoring machine on a double, I’m not fooling twice.

Probably a warning for other fantasy coaches that he’s got the Mick Randall curse, but I’m backing him to continue his hot start with two large efforts this week.

Beat The Coach: Play the new weekly SuperCoach NBL game

The only other must-have, for me, is Illawarra’s three-time NBA champion JaVale McGee.

As advertised, the 37-year-old has been a dominant force, even if it hasn’t translated to wins for his team.

Through two games, 60 points has been the floor, and that’s enough to sport the highest average in the game.

Outside of that you can mix and match.

Here’s my starting six to outscore Damon “The Coach” Lowery.

FORWARDS

Zylan Cheatham, ADL, $262,200

Love his role with Montrezl Harrell gone – contributes in just about every statistic and a big scoring night won’t be far away.

Sam Mennenga, NZL, $226,700

Mr reliable being reliable in a team that is a basket case. A couple more double-doubles, thanks Sam.

CENTRE

Javale McGee, ILL, $277,000 — Vice-captain

Has naturally been the focal point for Illawarra and is clearly a must start – and a chief captaincy candidate.

GUARDS

Flynn Cameron, ADL, $104,600

Spending big elsewhere means we have to find value in the guards and Cameron looks the goods alongside Cotton after his big off-season move from Melbourne United.

Biwali Bayles, ILL, $69,000

With Will Hickey injured, Bayles has been the Hawks best option at point guard and producing well-beyond his pay grade in Beat the Coach.

SIXTH MAN

Bryce Cotton, ADL, $452,500 — Captain

Do I even need to write anything here? Maybe a caution: we’re approaching unattainable price areas – if Cotton churns out two monsters, we’re looking at paying over $500,000 next round. Enjoy it while you can.
