Roosters star Spencer Leniu involved in third drama fuelled moment at Suncorp Stadium in 2025

The NRL’s maddest player, Spencer Leniu, has once again silenced the Queensland crowd at Suncorp Stadium, coming under fire for a third drama fuelled incident this year. And this may have been the best yet.

Spencer Leniu brought the fire to Suncorp Stadium and silenced the Queenslanders again as local boy Sam Walker toyed with the Dolphins.

Leniu was at his crazy best on Saturday night, inspiring the Roosters to a 64-12 thrashing of the Dolphins in a drama-charged showdown in Brisbane.

The NRL’s maddest player has turned The Cauldron into his arena this year during three dramatic appearances – and this may have been the best yet as the Dolphins suffered their biggest ever defeat.

The Blues enforcer was branded a “grub” in the lead-up to Origin I following his infamous sideline spat with Maroons legend Johnathan Thurston during the Roosters’ round 6 win against the Broncos.

The Queensland crowd gave it to Leniu that night but he left smiling after the Maroons refused to kick to him and NSW recorded a series-opening victory.

Leniu didn’t fire a shot in the next two Origin games lost by the Blues and returned to Brisbane with a point to prove.

This time his target was the Dolphins – riding high after six wins in eight games to move into the NRL’s top eight.

Leniu knew he needed to do something to spark finals hopefuls the Roosters – and that he did.

It took less than 10 minutes for Leniu to find himself in the thick of the action when he shaped up to Dolphins rookie Aublix Tawha like they were getting ready for a street fight.

They found themselves in the sin bin along with fellow props Frank Molo (Dolphins) and Naufahu Whyte (Roosters).

Suddenly it was 11-on-11 – all because of Leniu – and minutes later the Roosters lost Siua Wong following a sickening kick-off head clash.

The barometer was off the charts.

Leniu taunted the Suncorp crowd once again as he left the field and came back with a point to prove, bursting through the Redcliffe’s line to score a minute before halftime.

He got up and held his finger in front of his mouth, silencing his haters in the ultimate fashion.

Molo did his best to take on Leniu but he was no match for one of the NRL’s most explosive props in what was a disappointing night for the Dolphins.

After battling bravely for so long amid an injury crisis, the bubble may have finally burst at Redcliffe for first-year coach Kristian Woolf.

They’ll have to pick up the pieces quickly before next Saturday’s Battle of Brisbane against the bruised Broncos which could have major finals ramifications.

The Dolphins were off the pace all night and were picked to pieces by Walker and James Tedesco on the back of Leniu and Whyte’s dominance in the middle.

Roosters winger Mark Nawaqanitawase picked up a hat-trick along the way.

The Roosters were ambushed in the corresponding game two years ago when the Dolphins announced themselves to the NRL with an upset round 1 win.

They turned the tables this time with a comprehensive demolition – and Leniu led the way in destructive fashion.

Bring on Leniu’s next visit to Suncorp – hopefully in the finals.
